Highest Qualification
9 October 2014Emma complies with the most stringent standards (Level 3) set by the corporate social responsibility foundation PSO. This means that Emma and its 130 employees, of whom around 100 have disabilities, are amongst the top performers in the Netherlands with regard to corporate social responsibility. "Level 3 is the highest level possible, yet we satisfied the requirements with ease", said Emma director Tom Hermans. One of the shareholders is NV Industriebank LIOF. LIOF's participation made it possible for Emma to become independent.
According to TNO (Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research), which subjected Emma to a stringent audit, the Limburg-based company satisfies all quality standards with regard to appropriate work, integration and guidance. The certification that Emma has gained is valid until 31 March 2016. According to Emma director Tom Hermans, it is old-fashioned to talk about people 'at the bottom of the job market'. "What do you mean, 'bottom'? At Emma, we don't categorise people. Everybody is a valued team member, and we are very happy with all of our people. After all, they enable our business to grow and make profits. We also work with employment agencies such as Randstad and Flexpoint." The Emma Safety Footwear project portfolio is now bulging to bursting point and a two-shift system may even have to be introduced to cope with the demand.
